1977 Martin Clark ’77 published his fifth novel, The Substitution Order,this July. The book quickly became a numberone Amazon bestseller on several charts. Martinwrites legal thrillers, drawing on extensive legalknowledge from his twenty-five years as a judgein southwest Virginia.
1981 Joe Thomas ’81 and his brother Owen Thomas ’79 completed theChicago Marathon together this October. The pairshowed their school spirit by wearing Woodberrygear for the race. 2
1982 In October, the Janney family came together in Charlottesvilleto celebrate the life of Tyson Janney ’49. TyJanney ’82, Tyson’s son, and his five grandsons,Connor ’ 14, Nathan ’ 17, Teddy ’ 19, Tyson ’09,and Daniel ’ 21, formed their own “Half Dozen”a cappella group, singing “Amici” at the serviceand “Until We Meet Again” at the reception. Allsix were members of the Dozen during their timeat Woodberry. 3
