Boys Host Book Talks
A group of six Woodberry students and twenty-six seventh and eighth grade students fromGrymes Memorial School gathered for a meetingof the GMS/ WFS Book Club in January. Everyonehad read Jason Reynolds’s new collection of shortstories, Look Both Ways. Woodberry studentsBlythe Brewster ’ 20, Hughes Edwards ’ 20, RhewDeigl ’ 20, Freddie Woltz ’ 20, Spence Whitman ’ 21,and Reed Taws ’ 20 led the discussions over lunchin the Terry Dining Hall. The group held anothermeeting in February, and Grymes students readone of several books selected by the Woodberrystudents.
Long Winter Weekend
A group of skiers and snowboarders traveledto Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia wherethey spent their days on the slopes and eveningsenjoying good meals. And though outdooractivities were the main event, an eveningwatching the Super Bowl was a highlight for many.
Meanwhile, nine boys joined members of thecollege counseling office for a tour of collegesand universities, including Johns HopkinsUniversity, Georgetown University, and the USNaval Academy. “The best part of the trip for me,”said Jake Bonnell, associate director of collegecounseling, “was watching students grow in theirability to engage with colleges with a critical lens.”
